Goldey-Beacom's men's basketball team has been picked to close second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division based on a vote by the league's coaches.

GBC (20-7, 14-5 CACC) a season ago recorded its best regular-season win total in school history at 20 and a berth in the CACC Tournament.  The Lightning also posted a school-record 12-game winning streak, a team-best 11 road wins, led the league with 81.3 points per contest, shot a league-best 49.5 percent from the floor, were crowned the January Team of the Month in a poll conducted by Hero Sports and were listed ninth in the first NCAA East Region rankings of the year.

Junior guard Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) is back after enjoying yet another solid campaign at guard.  A member of the City of Basketball Love Division II All-Rookie Team in 2016, Taite last season closed 40th in the CACC with 10.4 points per game, ninth with 42 steals, 14th with a .370 three-point percentage, 14th with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio, 29th with 37 three-pointers, 36th with a .421 shooting percentage and 36th with 4.7 rebounds per contest.

Senior forward Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) is a dominating enforcer in the paint who is tough for any team to guard.  He closed last season 41st in the country with a .566 shooting percentage (the third-best mark in school history), 11th with 6.6 rebounds per game, 17th with 138 field goals and 22nd with 13.0 points per contest.

Head coach TJ Dekmar last season in his debut campaign was picked among the top 30 men's basketball coaches – head coaches and assistant coaches of all divisions – under age 30 as released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Goldey-Beacom starts its season November 11 against Franklin Pierce in Manchester, NH.
