Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Wins Fourth Straight, 92-62 at Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom saw all five starters crack double figures and enjoyed its best shooting of the season to date for its fourth straight victory, a 92-62 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rout of Holy Family in Philadelphia, PA.

Goldey-Beacom (5-2, 3-1 CACC) in the first half scored 15 straight points over just 3 1/2 minutes to grab a 34-21 lead with 5:39 remaining.  Seniors Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (New Castle, DE) and Elijah Tillman (Garnerville, NY) scored four points apiece in that span for the Lightning, who shot 5-of-5 from the floor and made both three-point attempts.

The lead at halftime was 50-35 thanks to the Lightning shooting an eye-popping 65 percent (20-of-31) from the floor and 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers (3-6, 2-1) were held to a mere 36 percent (12-of-33) from the field and 4-of-18 from three-point range.

If that was not enough, the Lightning then went on an 18-3 run over seven minutes to open a 70-42 cushion with 10:58 to play.  Sophomore Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) scored eight points in that spurt for GBC, which shot 8-of-12 from the floor and limited Holy Family to just 1-of-12.

Goldey-Beacom finished shooting a season-best 59 percent (38-of-64) from the floor and 10-of-17 from beyond the arc to snap a four-game skid in the series.  Holy Family did not help itself by shooting 35 percent (23-of-65) from the field and 7-of-36 from three-point range.

Junior Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, senior Riyan Williams (Dunkirk, MD) notched 14, nine and six assists off the bench, Ridgeway-Higgs amassed 14 points and nine assists, senior Shakeem Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) scored 14 points, Tillman netted 13 and Taite added 10 for the Lightning.

Dyllon Hudson-Emory poured in 20 points, Randy Bell netted 14 and Maliq Sanders added 12 for the Tigers.

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday against Chestnut Hill as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men's game starts at 8:00 pm, which follows the women's 6:00 pm contest.
