Goldey-Beacom's basketball teams during three of their doubleheaders will help raise money for the families of five Delaware firefighters affected by recent fires.
Â
The entire Wilmington community was saddened September 24 by a fire which took the lives of Captain Christopher Leach and Lieutenant Jerry Fickes, and injured Ardythe Hope and Brad Speakman. Tim McClanahan, a Lewes firefighter, died July 11 during a joint training exercise with the Delaware State Police's Air Rescue Team. Goldey-Beacom, in conjunction with Wilmington University, each will do their part in helping bring holiday joy to these families.
Â
Goldey-Beacom will collect money and also hold 50/50 raffles during their doubleheaders November 30 against Georgian Court at 6:00 pm, December 6 vs. Chestnut Hill at 6:00 pm and December 12 against New Haven and Pace at 6:00 pm.
Â
During the doubleheader at Wilmington between the Lightning and Wildcats on December 18, the families will be on hand to accept the donations and special t-shirts will be sold to raise additional funds.
