(2016-17 schedule)

In what should be another exhilarating year, Goldey-Beacom announced its women's basketball schedule for the 2016-17 season.

GBC opens the 28-game regular season November 11 with a tip-off tournament in Philadelphia against Franklin Pierce, followed by American International the next day.  The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and home opener is November 16 against reigning league champion Philadelphia U.

Non-conference games before the new year are highlighted by a trip to Molloy on November 19 and a road tilt at New York Tech on December 8.  The Lightning then host non-league games against Shepherd, New Haven and Shippensburg before visiting local-rival Wilmington on December 18.

GBC plays six league doubleheaders in the 2017 portion, starting with Caldwell on January 4.  The squad hosts U. of the Sciences on February 15 and Wilmington three days later before ending the regular season February 21 at Chestnut Hill.

The conference quarterfinals are February 25 and both the semifinals and final will be held at Caldwell University from March 4-5.

Goldey-Beacom is paced by the great play of junior guard Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ), one of the league's most explosive and dynamic competitors.  The first team all-league pick from last season and the 2015 CACC Rookie of the Year was named last year the best Division II player under 5'5" by Hero Sports.

Bruno, who led the league in scoring and assists last season, closed 43rd in the country with 17.0 points per game, 23rd with 5.1 assists per contest, 23rd with a 2.22 assist-to-turnover ratio, 31st with 2.46 steals per game and 60th with 35.14 minutes per contest.

She enters the season eighth in school history with 969 points, third with 290 assists, third with 128 three-pointers, eighth with 347 baskets, ninth with a .406 field goal percentage, eighth with a .735 free throw percentage and tied for seventh with 120 steals.

Opponents also can not ignore the game of junior forward Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA), who's strong play has made her one of the league's top post players.  The third team All-CACC pick from last season closed 20th in the country with 10.7 rebounds per game and 14th in the league with 13.3 points per contest.

Bryson is 15th in school history with 676 points, fourth with 74 blocks, sixth with a .438 shooting percentage and 10th with 498 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) once again will transition from the soccer pitch after averaging 5.8 points per game and ending 35th in the league with 4.7 rebounds per contest.  Junior forward Marisa Howard (Twinsburg, Ohio) also is back after averaging 4.2 points per game and scoring 20 points in last season's finale at Georgian Court.

The squad is two victories shy of reaching 200 in program history.
