Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bryson & Bruno Once Again Double Trouble in Women’s Basketball's Triumph at Wilmington

The dynamic sophomore tandem of Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) and Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) each produced a double-double as Goldey-Beacom raced to a first-half lead and went on to an 85-72 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Wilmington (DE) in Newark, DE.

Bryson scored a career-best 29 points on 13-of-21 shooting to go with 15 rebounds for her third straight double-double, fifth this season and 12th career.  Bruno went off for 24 points and a career-best 12 assists for her second double-double in the last three outings and fourth career.

Bruno also canned three 3-pointers to give her 95 career, which vaulted her to fifth place in school history.  She now also has 217 career assists, seventh best in team annals.

The two in the first half combined for 24 points with Bryson scoring 14 and Bruno dishing six assists, helping the Lightning to a 40-25 lead thanks to shooting 40 percent (15-of-38) from the floor to go with a 29-25 rebounding edge.  The Wildcats shot 27 percent (10-of-37), but were undone by going only 4-for-11 from the foul line.

Wilmington did its best to hang around, closing to 55-46 late in the third quarter and only trailing 74-63 with 4:06 to play.  But this one belonged to GBC, which scored the next seven points that was aided by a huge 3-pointer from sophomore Mikila Stefanski (Hammonton, NJ) for an 81-63 contest with 2:45 remaining.

Stefanski poured in 11 points to go with six rebounds and three 3-pointers and freshman Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, PA) continues to be a vital component, ending with 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench for GBC (3-10, 3-3 CACC).  It is the Lightning's third victory in their last four games overall and their 13th straight win over the Wildcats.

Macy Robinson scored 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting with five 3-pointers and Ebonee Dixon added 14 points for the Wildcats (7-6, 2-3), who shot only 36 percent (29-of-81) from the floor and went just 9-for-21 from the line.

Goldey-Beacom is off until Thursday, December 31, when it hosts Millersville at 1:00 pm.
