Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Tough Start Dooms Women’s Basketball in 62-48 Loss at UDC

Goldey-Beacom unfortunately got off to a rough start and despite playing the last three quarters at almost level pegging, was handed a 62-48 loss at the District of Columbia in Washington, DC.

The Firebirds rattled off the game's first 13 points over five minutes and held a 21-8 lead at quarter time.  Tajruba Baldwin-Kollore scored seven points in the opening period for UDC, all of which came during her squad's first 10 points.

The Lightning only were outscored 41-40 over the final three periods and used great defense to stick around.  The Firebirds only shot 21 percent (6-of-28) from the floor in the second half and 2-of-8 from three-point range.

Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) had 14 points and eight rebounds, fellow sophomore Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) recorded nine points and five assists, junior Quorea Pearyer (Plainfield, NJ) had eight points and eight rebounds with sophomore Marisa Howard (Reminderville, OH) grabbing eight rebounds for GBC (0-4).

Iman Scott had 19 points and eight rebounds, Baldwin-Kollore netted 14 points and Tiara Goode added 12 points and eight rebounds for UDC (2-1).
