Goldey-Beacom's season that is full of promise began today with a test at Division I Maryland, which last season played in the Final Four, and turned into a 127-33 loss in College Park, MD.

GBC last season won 13 of its last 23 games and advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament a sixth straight year.  Many of the players from that crew are back this season and look to help take the Lightning to the next level.

One of them is sophomore Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ), last year's CACC Rookie of the Year and second team all-league pick.  She broke the school's single-season records with 65 three-pointers and 146 assists, was 26th in the country with 5.0 assists per game and in the top 100 in four other categories.  Her 65 three-pointers already are ninth in school history.

Junior Jasmyne Lewis (Mount Holly, NJ), who displays great court awareness and will be a key factor this season, scored seven points to go with four rebounds and junior Quorea Pearyer (Plainfield, NJ) came off the bench to net a team-best eight points.  Sophomore Mikila Stefanski (Hammonton, NJ) scored six points and Bruno hauled in a team-best five rebounds.

Kiah Gillespie had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead seven players scoring in double figures for the Terrapins.  Kiara Leslie poured in 18 points and Brene Moseley added 17.

Goldey-Beacom opens its season November 13 against Stonehill as part of the Assumption Tip-Off Classic.  Game time in Worcester, MA is 5:30 pm.
