Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Handed 75-65 Loss By Philadelphia University

Goldey-Beacom put up yet another solid battle against a quality opponent, but gave up a run late in the contest and was dealt a 75-65 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss by Philadelphia University at the Joseph West Jones Center.

Goldey-Beacom, which held an 8-0 lead within the first two minutes, gave up seven straight points in just over two minutes to fall behind 66-63 with 3:33 remaining.  Alex Heck scored three points in that span and Monica Schacker ended it on a jumper for the Rams.

The Lightning did their best in the second half by shooting 50 percent (15-of-30) from the field, but only were 5-for-9 from the foul line.  The Rams shot 45 percent (13-of-29) after intermission and were 11-for-18 from the stripe.

Freshman Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) scored 20 points to fall one short of her season high, sophomore Jasmyne Lewis (Mount Holly, NJ) had 12 and eight rebounds with senior Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill, NJ) adding 11 and eight for the Lightning (4-9, 3-2 CACC).

Tori Arnao dominated inside with 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 13 rebounds over 32 minutes for the Rams (8-1, 4-1).  Bria Young had 19 points and nine rebounds, Schacker netted 15 points and Heck added 12 and seven rebounds.

Goldey-Beacom has 10 days off before it visits Millersville on New Year's Eve for a 1:00 pm contest.
