Lincoln University, Pa.- The Lightning men's basketball team fell to 2-1 on the season as they were defeated by The Lincoln University Lions (2-3), 73-65, on Saturday afternoon.
The Lightning had three starters in double figures, and four overall, as they were led by sophomore Sameen Swint, who dropped in a team high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor which included 3-of-7 from three point range. Joey Getz added 16 points on 7-of-16 from the floor. Chris Gebhart added a season high 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor and knocking down two free throw attempts. Derrick Archie netted 11 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
The Lions were led by guard Tony Efese, who scored a game high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. The Lions as a team scored 20 points in total from the free throw which proved to be the difference maker in the contest as the Lightning only had 16 free throw attempts.
The Lightning will look to continue on their early season success as the host Bloomsburg University at the Jones Center on Tuesday evening. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
