Box Score North Andover, Mass.- The Lightning women's basketball team fell to 0-2 on the season at the hands of the Merrimack College Warriors (2-0) at Hammel Court on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors used an early season high 50.9 shooting percentage and a 47.6 three point percentage to run away with a 75-39 victory over the Lightning.
The Lightning were led by the freshman duo of
Lexi Bruno (Millville Senior H.S./ Millville N.J.) and
Morgan Stefanski (Cedar Creek H.S./ Hammonton N.J.) who both scored a team high seven points in the loss. Bruno knocked down two of her three point attempts and added a free throw and Stefanski hit her only three pointer she took and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
The warriors put three starters in double figures as Caitlyn Garger put in a game high 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Aria Johnson and Ashley Weissmann had 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Lightning will take a week off from competition before they travel to Old Westbury, N.Y. to take on the New York Institute of Technology on Nov. 22.
