WILMINGTON, Del. - Sophomore forward
Isaiah Gans (Redemption Christian Academy/Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 17 points and added 13 rebounds as Holy Family University (10-5, 4-2) earned its fifth win in the last six games with a 78-62 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (5-8, 3-4) at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Wednesday evening.
Led by Gans, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in handing the Lightning their fifth loss in the last six games.
Holy Family sprinted out to an 18-7 lead in the opening nine minutes of the first half before the Lightning trimmed the margin to 20-13 by scoring six of the next eight points. However, the Tigers answered by scoring six unanswered points to expand their advantage to 26-13 on a slam dunk by junior forward
Brian Patterson (Hillhouse H.S./New Haven, Conn.) with 5:10 left in the stanza.
The Lightning narrowed the gap by scoring 9 of the next 11 points before a three-point field goal by graduate student guard
Khiry Hankins (Summit Country Day School/Cincinnati, Ohio) gave Holy Family a 31-22 advantage at the intermission.
Goldey-Beacom cut the deficit to 41-32 in the opening six minutes of the second half, but the Tigers took control of the game by scoring 17 of the next 26 points for a commanding 58-41 margin they did not relinquish.
The Lightning were able to cut the margin to 65-56 with four minutes remaining before Holy Family scored 13 of the game's final 19 points to seal the victory.
While Gans led the Tigers with his second "double double" of the season, senior guard
Ervin Ezell (Archbishop Ryan H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.) tallied a game-high 18 points with eight assists and four rebounds. Senior guard
Alberto Munoz (Cardinal Gibbons H.S./Morrisville, N.C.) added 16 points and converted all six of his free throw attempts.

Donte McGill (Mont Clare Academy/Newark, Del.) led the Lightning with 16 points off the bench while junior guard
Robert Sweet (Rice-Manhattan Center H.S./New York, N.Y.) added a season-high 12 points by making four of eight three-point field goal attempts.
