AMHERST, N.Y. - Making his college debut, freshman guard Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./New Castle, Del.) scored a team-high 12 points and added seven rebounds to lead Goldey-Beacom College (1-0) to a 59-48 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College (0-1) in the season opener for both teams at Lumsden Gymnasium on Friday evening.

In leading the Lightning to the win, Ridgeway-Higgs made five of nine shots from the floor, including a two-for-four performance from three-point range. He scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half as the Lightning built a 32-24 lead at the intermission and never trailed in the second half.

Meanwhile, senior forward Will Williams (Keystone Regional H.S./Flushing, N.Y.) added 12 points after converting 4 of 10 field goal attempts and all four free throws. He also contributed four rebounds and an assist while playing 28 minutes.

Making his first appearance for Goldey-Beacom, junior guard Jarrel Lane (St. Patrick H.S./Rahway, N.J.) tallied eight points with five rebounds and six assists.
