BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Junior guard Terry Hicks (Neptune H.S./Neptune, N.J.) scored 11 points and added eight rebounds to lead Bloomfield College (8-7, 6-1) to its second straight win, a 61-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (5-9, 2-4) at the Deacons' Bloomfield Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Led by Hicks, the Deacons earned their fourth consecutive victory over the Lightning, including last year's CACC Championship Game.

The Deacons jumped out to a quick 12-5 lead in the opening six minutes of the first half as junior forward Mike Williams (Trenton Catholic Academy/Trenton, N.J.) scored four points.

After junior forward Jordan Thorpe (Mount Zion Christian Academy/Newburgh, N.Y.) narrowed the margin to 12-7 on a jumper with 11:24 left in the first half, the Deacons closed the first half by going on a commanding 27-6 run to take a 39-13 lead into the intermission. Freshman guard Clarence White (Mount Saint Michael H.S./Bronx, N.Y.) scored seven points to fuel the run for the Deacons.

Led by eight points from sophomore guard Charles Jackson (Brandywine H.S./Wilmington, Del.), the Lightning opened the second half by scoring 17 of the first 25 points to trim the margin to 47-30 with 12:29 remaining in regulation. But, the Deacons answered by scoring eight consecutive points, including five from Hicks, to increase the advantage to 55-30 with 9:30 left.

The Lightning answered by going on a 21-3 run over the next nine minutes to close the gap to 57-51 on a lay-up by junior forward Will Williams (Eldon Academy/Flushing, N.Y.) with 14 seconds remaining. However, the Deacons secured the victory by making four of six free throws in the closing seconds.

Hicks led the Deacons to the victory by making 4 of 11 field goal attempts, including a three-for-eight performance from three-point range. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Marvin Williams (Marist H.S./Jersey City, N.J.) added 10 points with four rebounds while White added nine points with four rebounds off the bench.

Jackson scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Lightning in a losing effort, making 8 of 12 shots from the floor. He also added five rebounds and an assist. Meanwhile, junior guard A.J. Picard (Souderton Area H.S./Skippack, Pa.) contributed 14 points with three assists, three rebounds and three steals.

The Lightning, who suffered their fifth loss in the last seven games, will return to the Joseph West Jones College Center on Tuesday night to host local rival Wilmington University in a CACC game at 6 p.m. The Wildcats won the first meeting between the two teams on Dec. 10 by a 65-63 margin.
