PHILADELPHIA - Despite 27 turnovers, including 18 in the second half, Goldey-Beacom College survived a scare and defeated Chestnut Hill College, 50-43 at Sorgenti Arena in the regular-season finale, securing a home playoff berth as a result. A tie game at 36-36 with 6:50 to play, junior guard Ashley Rosario nailed a go-ahead jumper to kick off a key 6-0 spurt, then capped the run with a fast-break lay-up to make it 42-36. Five straight points by the Griffins (6-20, 5-14 CACC) made it a tight 42-41 ballgame, but a steal and score from junior forward Akilah Sewell (eight points, eight rebounds, five assists) sparked another 6-0 spell that gave the Lightning their largest lead of the night, 48-41, prompting the victory. Rosario topped the scorecard with 15 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals, while junior forward Devonne Richardson notched a double-double (13 points, 12 boards) and sophomore forward Briana Richmond-Peters chipped in with 10 points off the bench for the winners. Lindsay Alexander paced the Griffins with 11 points as her club shot a frosty 20% from the floor. Goldey-Beacom - which finishes the regular season at 19-7 overall and 14-5 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference - shot 35%, outrebounded its hosts, 55-40, and dominated the paint, 28-10 while also accounting for 11 of the game's 13 blocked shots. Chestnut Hill kept it close thanks to a a 25-12 advantage in points off turnovers, while also making all five of the game's three-point baskets.
