NEWARK, Del. – Led by a “double double” by senior guard Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.), Goldey-Beacom College (7-5, 4-1) erupted for a season-high 84 points en route to earning its fourth straight win, an 84-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Wilmington University (2-10, 1-4) on Monday evening at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex.

Richardson, who was honored as the CACC Player of the Week earlier on Monday evening, scored a season-high 22 points and added a game-high 13 rebounds as the Lightning earned their seventh consecutive win over the Wildcats.

After the Lightning opened the game by scoring six of the first eight points, including a pair of field goals from senior forward Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.), the Wildcats scored 9 of the next 14 points to take a 13-11 lead on a pair of free throws from junior guard Lauren Brown (C.H. Flowers H.S./Bowie, Md.).

The teams traded field goals before the Lightning used a 12-4 run, including five points from senior guard Jacinda Jones (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.), to take a 21-17 lead with 11:17 remaining in the first half.

After the Wildcats battled the margin to 25-23 with 6:25 remaining in the first half, the Lightning ended the period by scoring 16 of the final 21 points to claim a 41-28 advantage at the intermission. Hudson scored six of her 14 points during the run.

Led by five points from senior guard Danielle Thomas (Toms River East H.S./Toms River, N.J.), the Wildcats opened the second half by going on a 7-2 spurt to narrow the margin to 43-35 with 18:20 remaining. But, the Lightning answered by scoring nine consecutive points to extend the lead to 52-35 on a lay-up from senior forward Akilah Sewell (Baltimore City College H.S./Baltimore, Md.) with 12:54 left.

Following a free throw by Brown, the Lightning upped their advantage to 70-44 by outscoring Wilmington by an 18-9 margin over a seven-minute span.

The Wildcats scored back-to-back field goals by Brown and freshman guard Tenicia Spence (Western H.S./Baltimore, Md.) before the Lightning ended the game by going on a 14-5 run.

En route to leading the Lightning to the win, Richardson made 6 of 10 field goal attempts while connecting on seven of eight free throw attempts. She also added three assists in addition to recording 10 or more rebounds for the sixth consecutive game.

Meanwhile, Hudson made 7 of 11 shots from the floor en route to a 14-point performance along with six rebounds. Sewell tied a season high by scoring 13 points off the bench in addition to grabbing eight rebounds.

Thomas led the Wildcats in a losing effort by scoring 14 points while Spence contributed 11 points. Brown added 10 points with five rebounds for Wilmington, which suffered its first loss at home this season.

The Lightning, who have posted four consecutive wins following a five-game losing streak, will continue their three-game road trip on Wednesday night when they travel to Molloy College for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference game against the Lions.
