After holding Wilmington to just 17 first half points and 18% shooting, the Goldey-Beacom College Women's Basketball Team cruised to a 59-42 victory on Tuesday night at the Pratt Center in New Castle, DE.
GBC used a balanced attack as 3 players scored in double figures for the Lightning.
Irene Hudson led the way with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while
Akilah Sewell kicked in 12 points.
Ashley Rosario had 11 points and 5 assists in the victory.
WU led just once, 3-0, before the Lightning put up a 13-2 run to take control. GBC kept on rolling and extended the lead to 39-17 by halftime, its largest lead of the period. The margin didn't drop below 17 thereafter, peaking at 30 with a score of 55-25 with 8:50 remaining in the contest. Wilmington used one last surge going on a 17-4 to close out the game. Joune Reed was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 10 points and Samantha Retas provided 10 rebounds in Wilmington's 7
th straight defeat.
The Lightning are back in action on Thursday, January 5 as they host Georgian Court in another CACC contest. GBC defeated the Lions by a score of 74-59 in the 1
