New Castle, DE – Nolan leads Lightning with 16 points, but team falls to Wilmington
In a battle of CACC and cross-town rivals, Wilmington University broke open a close game with a 20-0 run midway through the first half, and never looked back. The Lightning offense struggled from the field, and found themselves down at the half 39-17.
Coming out of the intermission, the Lightning played with more energy, and improved their play on both ends of the court. Despite the Lightning's improved performance, the Wildcats stayed consistent in their play through out the half, and held on for 74-52 win over the Lightning.
Senior Kellyn Nolan led the way for the Lightning with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Right behind her was freshman Samantha Sanchez with 12 points and 4 rebounds, while sophomore Janae Weldon added 11 points, 3 assists and 2 steals. Big on the boards was Arielle Alford with 11 rebounds, 9 points, 2 blocks and 2 assists.
The Lightning will return to the Joseph West Jones Center on Thursday, February 5, as they host Philadelphia University at 6:00pm.
