New Castle, DE – Miles Leads Lightning in Victory over Wilmington University

The Lightning started last night's CACC win over rival Wilmington University, with a 16-5 run over the first four and a half minutes, and never looked.  The Lightning held their lead through the first half, despite a 10-0 run by the Wildcats.  Behind good defense and quality shooting, the Lightning held off Wilmington and regained a relaxed lead for the rest of the half, and headed off to the locker room with a 39-31 advantage.

Coming out of half time, the Lightning controlled the play at both ends of the court, and stretched their lead to a much as 22 points.  Behind excellent shooting (59% from the field, 87% from behind the arc) and a strong team effort, the Lightning cruised to a 20-point win over their cross-town rival (84-64).

Junior Adrian Miles led the team with 19 points, 8 steals, 5 assists and 5 rebounds, while sophomore Azeez Ellegood was right behind with 17 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. 

The Lightning will return to the Joseph West Jones Center on Thursday, February 5, as they host Philadelphia University at 8:00pm.
