Wilmington, DE – Lightning improve win streak to five with one point thriller over Felician College

 

The Lightning continued their good play and improved on their win streak this past Saturday, with a victory over visiting Felician College.  The first half saw neither team gain more then a five-point advantage in the opening 20 minutes, but the Lightning did manage a 24-21 halftime edge, behind late baskets from juniors Adrian Miles (10 points) and Kyle White (16 points, 6 assists.   

 

Coming out strong in the second half, the Lightning were able to stretch their lead to eleven, 41-30, with 13:38 remaining.  However, the Golden Falcons battled back to tie the game up at 47, with 8:10 left on the clock.  The Lightning again went on the offensive, and took an eight-point lead, only to see Felician pull to within one point, 61-60, with just 38 seconds on the clock.  After a Lightning missed a shot, Felician looked for the last shot.  With an open man behind the arch, Felician got the shot off at the buzzer.   The gym was completely silent, until the ball hit the rim and bounced to the floor, and the home crowd celebrated.   The 61-60 win, was the fourth straight CACC win the Lightning, and their fifth straight win overall. 

 

Sophomore Sam McDuffie added 10 points and 5 rebounds. 

 

The Lightning will next host the University of the Science in Philadelphia this Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 8:00pm.
