Philadelphia, PA – Lady Lightning just miss against the Lady Devils

The Lady Lightning faced off against the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia last night, in a hard fought CACC game.  The lead would change hands five times in the first half, with the Lightning leading by as much as 5-points (17-12) midway through the half.  However, a late run by the Lady Devils put them on top at intermission, 27-21.

The Lady Devils increased their lead to 31-23 at the start of the second half, before the Lady Lightning reclaimed the advantage with a 12-2 run.   The score remained close for the remainder of the game, as the teams battled for the win.  A Devils jump shot with 1:38 remaining proved to be the game winner, as the Lady Devils captured the important conference home win, 52-50. 

Janae Weldon led the Lightning with 20 points, while Kellyn Nolan added 11 points and 4 rebounds.  Arielle Alford hit the boards with 11 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Samantha Sanchez added 3 blocks and 3 rebounds.  Evebonee Acosta joined with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Lady Lightning will return home on Saturday, February 14, 2009, against Felician College.  Tip-off will be 1pm.
