PHILADELPHIA – Junior transfer Terrence Parkes posted a double-double with 26 points and 17 rebounds and senior guard Kyle White scored 20 points and dished out eight assists as the surging Goldey-Beacom College Lightning men's basketball team cruised to its third straight victory at Chestnut Hill College Sat. afternoon, 82-66.
GBC improved to 5-2 for the season and stayed unbeaten at 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference while CHC fell to 4-6 (0-2 CACC).
Junior guard/forward Sam McDuffie scored eight points on the day to surpass Jeremy Jeanne for fifth-place on the school's all-time scoring list with 605 career points.
The Lightning jumped out to an early 14-4 advantage in the opening 6:16 over their CACC South Division rival and they never looked back. They owned a 39-25 halftime advantage at the half as they outshot the Griffins 53.3 percent to 34.5 percent from the field. The Lightning advanced their early 14-4 lead into a 37-18 lead with 3:16 left in the opening period. White spearheaded the GBC run with 11 points.
Parkes and White took over in the closing frame. Parkes scored 18 of his 26 and White scored nine of his 20 after the break as GBC cruised to its third straight victory and remained unbeaten in the CACC. The game marked the third time the Lightning have scored 80 or more points this season.
GBC is back in action Monday night as the Lightning visit Millersville University in non-league action at 8 p.m.
