Box score

Philadelphia, PA – Lightning and Tigers battle for Semifinal spot

The Lightning men's basketball team traveled to Holy Family University for a quarterfinal contest.  The Lightning and the Tigers battled in a Saturday afternoon match up in the CACC Quarterfinals.  Twice before this day did the two meet up.  The first of the season was back in January down in the Lightning house where the Lightning took control and defeated the Tigers 81-74.  The second would be in the Tigers den where the Tigers would reign supreme with the win of 87-52 over the Lightning.

The Lightning came back into the Tigers den for their shot at a semifinal match up for the CACC Championship.  The first half seemed like it was going to be the Tigers game but as we all know that Lightning can strike at anytime. The first half ended with a score of 37-36 in favor of the Lightning.  The Lightning were led at the half by Senior Derek Savage with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.

The second half again looked like the Tigers game.  The largest lead for the Tigers was nine points at 6:56 left in the game.  The Lightning climbed their way back to just trail by two with just a couple of seconds left.  With the Tigers' defense the Lightning unfortunately couldn't get their shot off.  The Lightning fell to the Tigers 71-73.  The Lightning finished their season 16-12 overall.  The Lightning were led by Derek Savage with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal and Maurice Maxwell with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block and 2 steals.
