Philadelphia, Pa – Chestnut Hill slips past the Lightning

The Lightning women's basketball team traveled to CACC rival Chestnut Hill College this past Thursday.  The Griffins took the early lead, but behind the play of Evebonee Acosta, the Lightning tied the game up with a three pointer with 3:39 left in the first half.  However, the Griffins managed 28-27 half-time lead.

The second half started with poor shooting from the Lightning, as they fell behind by fourteen.  Samantha Sanchez started the comeback with a layup with 4:20 left in the game, followed by buckets from Acosta and Janae Weldon, to help the Lightning pull to pull within three points.  Unfortunately, the attack came too late, as the Griffins held on for a 61-58 win.

The Lightning was led by Evebonee Acosta with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.  Janae Weldon chipped in 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, while Arielle Alford provided 10 points and 11 rebounds. 

The Lightning will next play host to St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00pm.
