While leading the Lightning men's basketball team to a 2-3 record in December, sophomore guard Marcus Porter averaged 18.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. A starter in all five games, the Wilmington, Del. native recorded five double-digit scoring efforts, including a pair of 20-point performances.
Porter, who recorded three "double double" performances in December, scored a season-high 24 points with 12 rebounds in a close loss at Wilmington University on Dec. 10. In the Lightning's win over Caldwell on Dec. 8, he contributed 19 points with 10 rebounds after a 14-point effort at Millersville on Dec. 5.
In addition, Porter helped the Lightning to a win over Washington Adventist by scoring 15 points, including the game-winning free throw with 2.2 seconds remaining in regulation. He finished the month with a 20-point, 10-rebound outing at Chestnut Hill on Dec. 19.
One of two players to start every game this season, Porter is the Lightning's leading scorer with a 15.9 average. He also ranks second on the team by grabbing 6.0 rebounds per outing.
