Junior Jeff Whiteside of the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team has been named as the GBCAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of April, 2012.
A member of the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's golf team, Whiteside led the Lightning to a fourth-place finish at the CACC Championship and finished in a tie for second place with sophomore Patrick McRae. After firing an opening round score of 77, Whiteside finished the tournament by carding a 72 in the second round.
In addition, he also helped the Lightning to a third place finish at the Goldey-Beacom College Spring Invitational by earning a tie of 15th place with a two-round total of 159.
Whiteside, who has played in 11 of the Lightning's 12 tournaments this year, will lead Goldey-Beacom into the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Tournament, which starts on May 7 in Hershey, Pa.
