Jennie Welch began her coaching career at Goldey-Beacom College during the 2009 season. Prior to joining the Lightning Volleyball staff she coached at the club level for the Delaware Junior 14's National team. Jennie brings playing experience at the Division I level, coaching experience, and a passion for the game to the women's volleyball program.
Jennie brings extensive playing experience to the Goldey-Beacom Lightning. In high school she was a three-time letter winner at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, Virginia. She was named team MVP in 2002 and 2003. In her senior year of high school, Jennie was first team-all region, the Western Valley District Player of the Year, and named the All-Timesland Player of the Year by the Roanoke Times.
Jennie went on to play collegiate volleyball at the Division I level for the Bucknell Bison. She was a four-year starter and a two-year captain. Jennie holds several records at Bucknell. She holds the Bucknell record for most blocks in a single game (10). She also is 2nd in Bucknell history in block assists in a season, 2nd in career block assists, and 3rd in career total blocks. While a member of the Bison squad Jennie helped the team to Patriot League post-season play all four years.
Jennie also has coaching experience with Delaware Juniors. Prior to coaching with the Goldey-Beacom Lightning she was the 14's Nationals coach for Delaware Junior Volleyball Club. Jennie led the team to a championship at the MVSA tournament in 2008 and became IMPACT certified through USAV volleyball.
Jennie currently resides in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband Kevin. She continues to play volleyball as much as she can, playing both beach and indoor level competitively year round.
