Goldey-Beacom ran against the best the region had to offer in competing at the NCAA East Regional Cross Country Championship in Bethpage, NY.

The men's race saw senior Jono Hooper (Brisbane, Australia) over the 10,000-meter course finish 99th in 36:43.6. Chauncey Nichols (New Castle, DE) ran in 39:04.3 and fellow sophomore Jason Hyland (Audubon, NJ) closed in 39:18.0.

The women's race had seven competitors for the Lightning over 6,000 meters and saw the team finish 27th. Senior Mary Ann Jones (Frederick, MD) ran in 27:37.6, junior Alivia Gillard (Manchester, England) closed in 28:00.0, Brittany Delgado (Hamilton, NJ) finished in 28:30.9, fellow sophomore Cara Jones (Wilmington, DE) ended in 29:17.0, Juana Henao (Bogota, Colombia) ran in 30:01.4, fellow senior Chelby McCall (Chesapeake City, MD) closed in 31:26.4 and sophomore Holly Tesoro (Milford, DE) finished in 33:16.0.

The Lightning this season had another strong campaign in which both teams ended second at the competitive GBC Fall Classic, the men had three top-10 finishes as a team and the women recorded two. Hooper had four top-20 finishes, including a victory at the GBC Fall Classic.

Next up for the harriers is the inaugural track & field season for both units. The schedule will be announced in early 2019.
