Cross Country Partakes in the CACC Championship

Goldey-Beacom served as host for the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships, putting on a solid display at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE.

Junior Jono Hooper (Brisbane, Australia) paced the Lightning's men's side by ending 22nd in 28:22.5. Sophomore Adam Quann (Pennsville, NJ) was 40th in 29:36.7, senior Justin Morris (Abingdon, MD) closed 46th in 29:44.9, Chauncey Nichols (New Castle, DE) ended 63rd in 31:03.3 and fellow freshman Jon Roberts (Wilmington, DE) was 67th in 31:42.3.

GBC as a unit closed 11th with 238 points. Jefferson won the team title with 75 points and Wilmington's Mark Corrigan won the 8,000-meter jaunt in 26:39.8.

Senior Crystal McCollum (Elkton, MD) led Goldey-Beacom's women by ending 36th in 22:14.3. Freshman Cara Jones (Wilmington, DE) was 50th in 23:02.5, Mary Ann Jones (Frederick, MD) ended 52nd in 23:07.9, fellow junior Juana Henao (Bogota, Colombia) finished 71st in 24:51.8 and freshman Brittany Delgado (Hamilton, NJ) was 72nd in 25:02.1.

GBC closed 12th with 281 points. Jefferson captured the team crown with 49 points and Kendall Fitzgerald won the 5,000-meter race in 18:56.3

Goldey-Beacom on November 4 will compete at the NCAA East Regional in Buffalo, NY.
