GBC Student-Athletes Achieve Great Success in the Classroom in 2009-10

PIKE CREEK, Del. – Goldey-Beacom College's athletic teams had a very successful 2009-10 academic year. Eight of GBC's 10 teams had a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and the school's student-athletes collectively earned a 3.25 GPA.
“We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and congratulate them on their continued academic success,” Director of Athletics Chris Morgan said.
Women's tennis led the way with a 3.74 cumulative GPA. Following them were seven other teams with cumulative GPA's over 3.0: softball (3.35), women's soccer (3.3), women's cross country (3.28), golf (3.24), volleyball (3.2), women's basketball (3.11) and men's cross country (3.05). Men's soccer finished with a 2.96 and men's basketball a 2.94.
Female student-athletes posted a 3.3 semester and cumulative GPA and the male student-athletes had a 2.93 GPA in the Spring and 3.05 for the academic year.
A total of 15 GBC student-athletes were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team, an honor that required the student-athlete be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the Fall or Spring semester. Eleven athletes peppered the Fall team and four were placed on the Spring team.
Women's soccer had six players make the CACC Fall All-Academic Team, men's cross country had two, women's tennis had two and volleyball had one. The softball and men's golf team each had two representatives on the CACC Spring All-Academic Team.
