Wilmington, DE - Goldey-Beacom College Athletic Department Recognized for Diversity in Athletics
The NCAA has recognized Goldey-Beacom College Department of Athletics for their Overall Excellence in Diversity. Goldey-Beacom College was one of 14 NCAA Division II Institutions recognized by the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport at Texas A&M University, in conjunction with the NCAA.
The award is based on diversity strategy, gender diversity of departmental employees, racial diversity of departmental employees, value and attitudinal diversity of department employees, graduation of African-American female and male student-athletes, and gender equity compliance.
“Goldey-Beacom College is deeply honored to receive this award. We consider it a tribute to the academic achievements of our student-athletes and to a caring and committed staff and faculty, which set the high standards of sportsmanship and scholarship to which our students aspire,” stated Dr. Mohammad Ilyas, President of Goldey-Beacom College.
Last year, Goldey-Beacom College was recognized by the Women in Sports Foundation for their excellence in gender equity, receiving their top grade and ranking 3rd among all NCAA Division II Institutions.
Goldey-Beacom College will be presented the award during a ceremony honoring their commitment to diversity at the NACDA Convention, in Dallas on June 11, 2008.
