Justin Hill Named to CACC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

An exceptional week for Goldey-Beacom freshman Justin Hill (Seaford, DE) helped land the promising shortstop a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Hill, picked the league's Rookie of the Week on March 27, batted .400 (8-for-20) last week with a double, a home run and three RBI. He was one of the primary catalysts in Goldey-Beacom's 2-1 victory Friday over Chestnut Hill, homering in the fifth inning and adding the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth. Hill also had two hits, including a double and an RBI in game one Saturday against Concordia (NY) that resulted in an 8-2 triumph.

It has been a strong start for Hill, just one of two players on the squad to start all 38 contests this season. He is tied for eighth in the conference with 38 games, tied for 15th with two triples, tied for 15th with three home runs, fifth on the team with a .260 batting average, third with 33 hits and third with 17 RBI.

The Lightning are in their first season as a Division II program and have enjoyed many firsts in their maiden voyage. They played their first game as a Division II member February 18 at Barton, their first home game March 5 against Queens (NY), notched their first victory March 24 at Chestnut Hill and their first doubleheader sweep Friday against Chestnut Hill.

Goldey-Beacom returns to action Friday at home against Felician, starting at noon in Hockessin, DE.
