Goldey-Beacom's Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) was tabbed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year as part of five honored by the league.

Other honorees included sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) named first team all-conference a second straight year, freshman Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) picked first team all-league, freshman Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) tabbed second team all-conference and Joe Kissel named Coach of the Year a fourth time.

Regner and Hortelano Pey have done their best work this year as a doubles tandem, owning a 14-1 mark that includes 9-0 in dual matches and 8-0 against the league.  The duo made the ITA East Region final and already are tied for fourth for the most single-season doubles victories in school history.

Regner is 9-2 in singles with an 8-1 mark in dual matches and Hortelano Pey is 12-2, including 8-1 in dual matches.

A key component of this season has been Zheng, who has made a huge impact on what remains a very young squad.  She owns an 11-1 singles mark that includes 8-0 in dual matches and has teamed with Lesscher y Post to garner a 10-2 doubles mark.

Lesscher y Post is 6-4 in singles this season and 4-3 in dual matches, all at first singles in a highly competitive conference.

Kissel owns all 125 victories in program history and has been coach for 12 of the squad's 13 seasons.  He has guided the Lightning to last year's conference title and six NCAA Tournament appearances.  Kissel also has been picked United States Tennis Association Middle States Delaware District College Tennis Coach of the Year three times, including the last two years.

The Lightning (9-0, 8-0 CACC) a second straight year are the top seed for the conference tournament and are in the semifinals a 10th consecutive year.  GBC awaits the winner of Tuesday's first-round match between fourth-seeded University of the Sciences and fifth-seeded Jefferson.

That semifinal takes place Friday at 10:00 am in Middlebury, CT.  The second semifinal is between second-seeded Concordia (NY) and the survivor of Tuesday's first-round tie between third-seeded Wilmington (DE) and sixth-seeded Post.

GBC also enters the tournament off a second straight undefeated fall regular season and has won 17 straight regular-season league matches, including the final two of the 2015 campaign.

Goldey-Beacom last season upended Post, 5-1, for its first CACC title in school history.  In its fifth trip to the final, the Lightning clinched their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament.
