Lexi Bruno Named to CACC Women’s Basketball All-Tournament Team

A standout performance from freshman Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) deserved a standout award and she got just that in being named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team.

Bruno scored a season-best 30 points, shot 12-of-28 from the floor and dished five assists over 43 minutes in Goldey-Beacom's tough 87-85 overtime loss February 28 at Caldwell in the quarterfinals. Bruno in the second half scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting with three 3-pointers, including the equalizing triple with 26 seconds left.

It was the latest award during what was an impressive season for the promising phenom, who was picked CACC Rookie of the Year and second team all-league. She also was tabbed the conference Rookie of the Week and to the league's Weekly Honor Roll four times each.

Bruno is 23rd in the nation with a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio, 26th with 5.0 assists per contest, 56th with a .380 three-point percentage, 95th with 16.1 points per game, 20th in the league with a .423 shooting percentage, 10th with 1.8 steals per contest, 16th with a .733 free throw percentage and 31st with 5.2 rebounds per game.

Bruno also broke a pair of single-season school records. She is GBC's leader for one season with 146 assists and 65 three-pointers.

The Lightning (13-16, 12-7 CACC) had a tremendous campaign while playing a challenging schedule and qualified for the CACC Tournament a sixth straight year. The future is bright for Goldey-Beacom as 74 percent of the scoring and 65 percent of the rebounds are represented by the freshmen and sophomores.
