Reighly Melochick Named to CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Freshman Reighly Melochick (Pottsville, PA) had a huge hand in a massive victory for Goldey-Beacom and was picked to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Melochick scored GBC's final nine points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:21 left, in her squad's huge 66-60 win Saturday at Bloomfield that clinched a spot in the CACC Tournament. She finished the game with 20 points to tie a season-best and hit two 3-pointers to give her 46 this season, the seventh-best single-season mark in school history.

Melochick averaged 16.7 points and 4.0 rebounds over three games, getting 17 points and eight rebounds last Monday at Georgian Court before scoring 13 points Wednesday vs. Holy Family.

Saturday's victory allowed the Lightning (11-13, 10-5 CACC) to clinch their sixth straight trip to the CACC Tournament. The squad has won four of its last five games and sits one-half game behind Holy Family (10-4) for third.

Melochick is 34th in the CACC with 9.8 points per game, ninth with 1.9 three-pointers per contest, sixth with a .404 three-point percentage and 11th with a .466 shooting percentage. She has scored in double figures 13 times this season, including her last four games.

It is her second such award this season as she also was picked to the Honor Roll on January 12.

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Caldwell on Senior Day as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. The women's game starts at 1:00 pm, followed by the men's contest at 3:00 pm.
