Women's Basketball | 2/16/2015 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom freshman Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) continued what already has been a stellar campaign by being named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

In the Lightning's only game last week, Bruno ended with 20 points, nine assists, five rebounds, three 3-pointers and a steal over 43 minutes in her squad's tough 96-92 overtime loss Saturday to Caldwell.  Bruno did everything she could to keep GBC in a contest that was a re-match of last year's ECAC semifinals, won by the Lightning.

Bruno has been tearing it up for the Lightning and presently is 32nd in the country with a 1.94 assist-to-turnover ratio, 38th with 4.8 assists per game, seventh in the CACC with 15.2 points per contest, second with 2.0 three-pointers per game (51 total) and 20th with a .417 shooting percentage.  She has scored in double figures 21 of her team's 25 games this season, including 19 straight.

The record books are no match for Bruno.  She is eighth in school history with 51 three-pointers and her 120 assists has her just outside of the school's top 10.  Among her GBC single-season marks, her three-pointers are fifth, her assists are second and her 380 points are just outside the top 10.

The three-time CACC Rookie of the Week now has been picked to the Weekly Honor Roll three times this season.  It also marks the 10th week this season the Lightning have had someone honored by the league.

GBC (11-14, 10-6 CACC), which is headed to the CACC Tournament a sixth straight year, sits 1 1/2 games behind Holy Family (12-5) for third place and 2 1/2 games in back of Philadelphia U. (12-3) for second.  The Lightning have won four of their last six games and 11 of their last 19 contests.

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday against Wilmington (DE) for its final regular-season home game of the year.  The women's game starts at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's contest at 8:00 pm.

Before the men's game, GBC will be presenting former cross country coach Brian Conley with the first William Conley Award.  The award will be given annually to someone in athletics who has displayed courage, determination and perseverance the same way Conley has.
