Goldey-Beacom women's basketball senior Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill, NJ) earned one of the league's highest honors as she was the January pick for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete of the Month.

The award is given to only one athlete a month, no matter what gender, based on what he or she has done in athletics, academics and within the community.

Chukwueze averaged 17.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.1 steals over seven contests in January with a .495 shooting percentage.  She scored in double figures every game in January with three double-doubles and played a big role in Goldey-Beacom getting back to the CACC Tournament a sixth straight year.  She had 20 points and 12 rebounds against Chestnut Hill on January 13, getting her named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, and also netted 20 points January 31 vs. Post.

That marked the third time this season and fifth in her career she was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.  Chukwueze opened the month with double-doubles against Nyack on January 3 (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Holy Family on January 7 (15 points, 10 rebounds).

Chukwueze's athletic accomplishments are not limited to this season.  In 2013-14 after transferring from Rutgers-Camden, she named second team All-CACC, picked to the ECAC All-Tournament Team and twice was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.  In helping the Lightning reach the ECAC final, Chukwueze was first on the team with 16.0 points per game, second with 7.7 rebounds per contest, second with a .323 three-point percentage, scored in double figures 26 times and poured in at least 20 points eight times.

In the ECAC final against Bluefield State, Chukwueze scored her 1,000th collegiate point.

Academically, Chukwueze was nominated for the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.  In the community, she has helped with her squad at Family Service Association in New Jersey and at the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington.

The Lightning (11-13, 10-5 CACC) this season have won 11 of their last 18 games and sit fourth in the CACC South Division, one-half game behind Holy Family (11-5).  The squad is home Saturday against Caldwell at 1:00 pm in a rematch of last year's ECAC semifinal, won by GBC.
