Lexi Bruno Named CACC Women’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week

Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) added another notch to her belt in what has been a standout freshman campaign as she was picked Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week.

Bruno averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest over two games last week. She poured in a career-best 22 points to go with eight assists and four rebounds Sunday in Goldey-Beacom's big 75-56 victory over Felician. She also had 11 points, five assists and four rebounds Thursday at University of the Sciences.

Helping GBC remain one of the league's elite, Bruno is 26th in the country with a 2.1:1 assist-to-turnover ratio and 50th with 4.4 assists per contest. She also is eighth in the CACC with 14.3 points per game, seventh with 2.0 three-pointers per game and sixth with a .386 three-point percentage.

A phenomenal all-around competitor, Bruno now is fifth in GBC single-season history with 88 assists, 10th with 39 three-pointers and her 286 points only has her 97 out of the top 10. She now has been named Rookie of the Week three times this season and has been picked to the league's weekly honor roll twice.

The Lightning (8-12, 7-4 CACC), who have won eight of their last 14 contests, sit one game behind Philadelphia U. for third place in the CACC South Division and two games in back of Holy Family for second.

Shyla Osmond of Felician shared the honor this week with Bruno.

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday against Post as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. The women's game starts at 1:00 pm, followed by the men's contest at 3:00 pm.
