NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior forward
Alexandra Smith (Pennsville Memorial H.S./Pennsville, N.J.) of the Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team has been named as the recipient of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week award for the week ending Sept. 28, it has been announced by CACC officials.
"This is a great award for Alex and I am happy she is being rewarded for an outstanding pair of matches last week," Goldey-Beacom Coach
Brian Sheehan said. "Alex has put in a great deal of effort this year and is getting to see the rewards of her work. We hope she can continue to play at this level for the rest of the year."
Smith scored five goals while leading the Lightning to a pair of victories last week. In the Lightning's 6-1 win at Lincoln, she posted the fourth "hat trick" of her career while tying the school record with four goals. She also contributed a goal in the Lightning's 5-1 victory at Nyack on Saturday.
The team leader with five goals this season, Smith ranks third in school history with 26 career goals and 60 career points.

Danielle Semenza received the honor on Oct. 1, 2012.
