NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior
Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) of the Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team has been named as a honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week award for the week ending Sept. 21, it has been announced by CACC officials.
In leading the Lightning to a pair of wins over Holy Family and Adelphi last week, Puentes Robinson posted a pair of singles wins. After a straight-set victory at number three singles against Holy Family, she overcame a first set loss in her match against Adelphi to earn a three-set win as the Lightning earned a 7-2 triumph over the Panthers.
After earning her two singles victories last week, Puentes Robinson became the Lightning's career singles wins leader and surpassed the previous record of 45 career victories, which was held by
Melanie Bonomo (2009-13). She now has a 46-15 career record in singles matches.
Led by Puentes Robinson, the Lightning will host Philadelphia University on Tuesday, Sept. 23 before traveling to Queens College for the ITA Regional Championships from Sept. 27-29.
