NEW HAVEN, Conn.
– Freshman guard Donte McGill (Mont Clare Academy/Newark, Del.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as the 2013-14 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year, it has been announced by CACC officials.

In addition, McGill was named as an honorable mention on the All-CACC teams.

"Donte had a terrific freshman year and I am glad he was recognized as the CACC Rookie of the Year by the coaches in our conference," Coach Chuck Hammond said. "I saw tremendous growth in Donte during the season and I am sure his best days of basketball are ahead of him as long as he stays focused and continues to work hard."

A five-time selection as the CACC Rookie of the Week, McGill was the Lightning's leading scorer and ranked 11th in the CACC with a 15.1 average while starting 14 of 26 games. He also contributed 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

McGill, who started the final 13 games of the season, scored 10 or more points in 13 of his final 14 games.
