Senior Forward Led Lightning to Pair of Victories

Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Weekly Report - Feb. 24, 2014

NEW HAVEN, Conn.
- After guiding the Goldey-Beacom College women's basketball team to a pair of victories, senior forward Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) has been named as an honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards for the week ending Feb. 23, it has been announced by CACC officials.

It is the second time this season Richmond-Peters has been recognized by the conference. She also received CACC honor roll status on Dec. 2 after the Lightning's games against Georgian Court and Bloomsburg.

In leading the Lightning to wins over Wilmington and Dominican last week, Richmond-Peters averaged 15.0 points and 15.0 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 56.0 per cent from the field. During the Lightning's 69-62 win over the Wildcats on Tuesday night, she scored 12 points and added 15 rebounds as Goldey-Beacom defeated its local rival for the 10th straight time.

On Saturday, the senior co-captain made 8 of 12 shots from the floor en route to an 18-point effort while contributing 15 rebounds as the Lightning secured a berth in the CACC Championship for the fifth consecutive season.

A starter in all 25 games for Coach Bethann Burke, Richmond-Peters is the Lightning's third-leading scorer with a 10.6 average while grabbing a team-high 9.8 rebounds per outing, a mark that ranks fourth in the CACC. She has scored in double figures in six of her last nine games while moving into eighth place on the Lightning's career rebounds list.

Richmond-Peters and the Lightning will play their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 when they host Philadelphia University at the Joseph West Jones College Center. Prior to the 6 p.m. tip-off, the Lightning will honor Richmond-Peters in recognition of her final career home game.
