New Haven, Conn.- Â The duo of
Alexandra Smith (Pennsville H.S./ Pennsville, N.J.) and
Nicole Curry (Lenape H.S./ Mount Laurel, N.J.) have been awarded Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference all-conference honors for the 2014 season, it has been announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.
Smith was honored with a first team all-conference nod after an impressive 2014 campaign which saw her tally 12 goals. Smith was regularly a thorn in side of opposing defenses, often drawing man marks and two defenders, as she attempted 63 shots, 41 of which were on goal. This the third time in her career that Smith has been honored by the CACC after earning a first team nod in 2011 and an honorable mention notice in 2013. Smith's 2014 highlight came on September 23
rd when she posted a four goal game at Lincoln University.
Curry was named to the second team all-conference team after her most offensively productive season of her four year career. Curry tallied eight goals on the season while dishing out four assists. Curry was the "go-to" player for penalty kicks this season as she scored four of her eight goals from the penalty stripe.
The Lightning ended their season with a record of nine wins, six losses and one. It was the most wins posted by the women's soccer program since 2005. The Lightning's conference record of six wins, five losses and one tie was good enough for the 7th seed in the CACC tournament, their first tournament appearance since 2006.
