New Haven, Conn.- Ninth year head coach
Joe Kissel has been named CACC Coach of the Year it was announced by the CACC on Thursday aftenoon.
This marks the second time that Kissel had been named coach of the year after being garnished with the honor following the 2009-2010 season. Kissel has led the Lightning to an overall record of 10-1 with a record of 7-1 in the CACC.   Â
Sophomore
Maria Victoria (Totana, Spain) was named to the All-CACC First-Team. This is the second straight year Victoria was honored by the CACC after receiving honorable mention notice last season. Victoria notched 11 total wins in singles play with only two losses. Victoria was able to rack up an 8-1 overall record in doubles play with her only loss coming in the ITA East Regional Tournament.
Freshman
Laura Moreno (Murcia, Spain), senior Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Columbia), and sophomore Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) were named to the All-CACC Second Team. Moreno a newcomer to the program, posted a season singles record of seven wins, three losses at the number one and two singles position. She also teamed up with multiple teammates to post a record of seven wins, three losses at the number one doubles position.
This marks the fourth consecutive year Puentes Robinson has been named All-CACC, her first second-team nod of her illustrious career. Puentes Robinson was undefeated during regular season play mainly at the number three singles position where she was a perfect 8-0. She totaled 11 wins, with her lone loss coming at the ITA East Regional Tournament. With her singles win on Sept. 19, Puentes Robinson broke the Goldey-Beacom College singles career wins mark with her 46
th career win surpassing former Lightning standout Melanie Bonomo's (2009-13) 45 singles wins . Puentes Robinson currently sits atop the leaderboard with 53 career singles wins.
Mrad joined the Lightning in 2014 following a brief stint at the University of New Orleans and made an immediate impact on the lineup each match. Mrad racked up an impressive eight wins and one loss record during the fall season as a singles player. Her only singles loss of the season was in the ITA East Regional Tournament. Mrad also was a steadfast player at the second doubles position where she combined with multiple playing partners for a record of eight wins, three losses. Â
The Lightning, who earned their seventh consecutive CACC Championship berth, will face Chestnut Hill College in the semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 25 starting at 1 p.m.
