McCoy and Cipolletti Honored by CACC

McCoy Earns Player of the Week Notice While Cipolletti Earns Honor Roll Selection for Weekly Defensive Honor

NEW HAVEN, Conn.
– Senior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been selected as the winner of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award for the week ending Oct. 12, it has been announced by CACC officials.

In addition, junior setter Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale H.S./Scottsdale, Ariz.) was named as an honorable mention selection for the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award.

In leading the Lightning to a 2-1 record last week, McCoy tallied 57 kills and posted a .341 hitting percentage while contributing 32 digs. After posting a "double double" with 18 kills and 13 digs against Philadelphia University on Wednesday night, she added another "double double" with 14 kills and 10 digs in a three-set win at the University of the Sciences.

McCoy finished the week by recording a match-high 25 kills with nine digs and a .525 hitting percentage as the Lightning claimed a three-set victory over Mercy College on Homecoming Saturday.

The CACC leader with 293 kills in 20 matches, McCoy has recorded at least 10 kills in each of her last seven matches. She has also accumulated 71 digs over the last seven matches, upping her career total to 932 career digs. She needs just 68 more digs to become the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000 career digs.

"We are in a situation where we can make a serious push for a CACC playoff spot and Kadi is a big reason for that," Goldey-Beacom Coach Richard Bowers said. "She took this entire week as a personal challenge and really stepped up to help us."

Meanwhile, Cipolletti recorded 113 assists in three matches last week while adding 34 digs and six total blocks. She earned a pair of "double double" efforts against Philadelphia University and the University of the Sciences before ending the week with a 38-assist, 7-dig performance in the win over Mercy.

In the four-set loss against the Rams last Wednesday night, Cipolletti tallied 44 assists with 15 digs and four blocks. She added 31 assists with 12 digs in the three-set victory over the Devils on Friday night.

The CACC leader with 643 assists in 20 matches this year, Cipolletti has posted at least 30 assists in five of the last seven matches. She also has 10 or more digs in four of those contests, including a season-high 16 digs against Holy Family on Sept. 30.

"Danielle is an amazing player and has taken a lot of the pressure off our team in terms of passing," Bowers said. "She has made a huge difference in our offense and has been a real leader by example. She gives 100 per cent every day."

Led by McCoy and Cipolletti, the Lightning are currently 10-10 on the season and will travel to Wilmington University for a 7 p.m. match against the Wildcats on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
