Ridgeway-Higgs Named CACC Co-Rookie of the Week

Freshman Led Lightning to Double Overtime Win at Felician

Parris Ridgeway-Higgs earned the first CACC weekly honor of his college career on Monday.

NEW HAVEN, Conn.
- Freshman guard Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./New Castle, Del.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as a co-recipient of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week award for the week ending Jan. 26, it has been announced by CACC officials.

Ridgeway-Higgs, who shared the honor with freshman forward Keith Hughes of Georgian Court, was recognized by the CACC for the first time in his college career.

In leading the Lightning to a split of their two games last week, Ridgeway-Higgs averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 59.1 per cent (13-for-22) from the field. He also contributed nine assists and four rebounds.

Ridgeway-Higgs made six of nine field goal attempts and four of five free throws en route to scoring 18 points in the Lightning's 81-76 loss against the University of the Sciences. He also added five rebounds and three assists.

In the Lightning's 99-89 double overtime victory over Felician on Saturday afternoon, Ridgeway-Higgs scored 17 of his season-high 21 points in the second half and overtime periods as the Lightning overcame a 15-point deficit to defeat the Golden Falcons. He made 7 of 13 shots from the floor, including a 3-for-7 effort from three-point range, in addition to converting four of five free throws.

Ridgeway-Higgs also matched a season high by recording six assists with two steals against Felician.

A starter in eight games this season for Coach Chuck Hammond, Ridgeway-Higgs is the Lightning's fourth-leading scorer with a 9.6 average, including a 16.3 point per game average during the last three outings. He is also second on the team with 48 assists in 17 games.

Led by Ridgeway-Higgs, the Lightning will return home on Tuesday, Jan. 28 when they host Georgian Court in a CACC South Division contest at 8 p.m.
