McGill Earns Second Straight CACC Rookie of the Week Nod

Freshman Tallied Season-High 24 Points at Chestnut Hill

Donte McGill has averaged 19.3 points per game in his last three outings, including a season-high 24 points at Chestnut Hill.

NEW HAVEN, Conn.
- Freshman guard Donte McGill (Mont Clare Academy/Newark, Del.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as the recipient of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week award for the week ending Jan. 19, it has been announced by CACC officials.

Honored as the CACC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, McGill earned the weekly honor for the second week in a row.

McGill scored a season-high 24 points in the Lightning's loss against Chestnut Hill on Tuesday evening. McGill, who scored 20 or more points for the second time this season, made 7 of 14 shots from the floor while converting 9 of 10 free throws.

The Lightning's leading scorer with a 12.8 average, McGill leads the CACC and ranks eighth nationally with a .907 free throw percentage. He has scored at least 10 points in 10 of his last 12 games, including each of the last three outings.

Led by McGill, the Lightning will return from an eight-day break to host the University of the Sciences in a CACC South Division contest on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m.
