NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior guard
Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as an honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly women's basketball awards for the week ending Jan. 12, it has been announced by CACC officials.
It is the second time she has earned honorable mention recognition this season. She received the distinction on Dec. 9 after leading the Lightning to a win over Concordia.
While leading the Lightning to a split of their two games last week, Chukwueze averaged 16.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She also made 11 of 19 free throws and contributed eight assists with five steals.
In the Lightning's 60-53 loss against defending CACC champion Holy Family, Chukwueze posted her fourth "double double" of the season with 15 points and a season-high 18 rebounds. She led the Lightning to a win over Wilmington on Jan. 11 by scoring 17 points, including a 10-for-13 effort from the free throw line.
A starter in all 15 games for Coach
Bethann Burke, Chukwueze is the Lightning's leading scorer and is tied for 10th in the CACC with a 15.6 average. She also ranks third in the CACC with 31 steals.
Now 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the CACC, Chukwueze and the Lightning will visit Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, Jan. 14 for a 6 p.m. CACC South Division game. Goldey-Beacom earned a 58-52 overtime victory over the Griffins on Dec. 18 at the Jones Center.
