Kadi McCoy, Grace McCarthy Earn CACC Volleyball Weekly Notice

McCoy Honored as Player of the Week While McCarthy Earns Honor Roll Status



NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) and freshman middle hitter Grace McCarthy (Delaware Military Academy/Middletown, Del.) of the Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team have earned weekly honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the week ending Sept. 15, it has been announced by CACC officials.

McCoy was named as the CACC Player of the Week for the first time in her career while McCarthy earned a spot on the CACC's Honor Roll.

In leading the Lightning to a 3-1 record last week, McCoy tallied 60 kills with 32 digs. After recording a 19-kill, 12-dig performance in Goldey-Beacom's five-set win over Cheyney on Tuesday night, she posted 13 kills with a season-high .370 hitting percentage against the Wolves in a three-set victory on Saturday afternoon.

While guiding the Lightning to a four-set win over Delaware Valley on Saturday, McCoy tallied a season-high 21 kills with 10 digs for her second "double double" of the season. In addition, she became the fourth player in school history with 700 or more career kills.

McCoy, who leads the Lightning with 91 kills in eight matches this season, also had seven kills with seven digs in a three-set loss against Georgian Court on Thursday night.

A starter in all eight matches this season, McCoy ranks third in the CACC in total kills and fourth in the CACC with a 3.25 kill per set average.

Meanwhile, McCarthy had an outstanding week after hitting .333 with 36 kills and a team-high seven blocks. In the Lightning's three-set win over Cheyney on Saturday afternoon, she had a season-high 15 kills while hitting .824 with just one attack error.

McCarthy also contributed 11 kills with a season-high six digs in the Lightning's four-set triumph against Delaware Valley while posting seven kills with five digs in a five-set victory at Cheyney on Tuesday night.

A starter in all eight matches for the Lightning this season, McCarthy ranks second on the team with 48 kills and 11 service aces while contributing 10 total blocks, which is tied for the team lead.

Led by McCoy and McCarthy, the Lightning will finish a four-match homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 17 when they host Chestnut Hill College in a CACC match at 7 p.m. in the Joseph West Jones College Center.
