– Sophomore guard Marcus Porter (Howard H.S./Wilmington, Del.) of Goldey-Beacom College has been named as a third team selection on the 2012-13 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball team, it has been announced by CACC officials.

In addition, junior guard A.J. Picard (Souderton Area H.S./Skippack, Pa.) was selected to receive honorable mention notice in a vote of the league's head coaches.

A two-time selection to the All-CACC teams, Porter led the Lightning and currently ranks eighth in the CACC by averaging 15.8 points per game. A starter in 23 of 25 games this season, he also ranked second on the team and 10th in the CACC with a 7.3 rebounding average while ranking second on the team with 66 assists.

Porter, who earned second team All-CACC honors as a freshman, tallied seven “double double” games this season and scored at least 10 points in 23 of 25 contests, including five games with 20 or more points. In the Lightning's overtime victory against Lincoln on Feb. 6, Porter scored a season-high 30 points with 14 rebounds. He also had 24 points with 12 rebounds in a loss at Wilmington University on Dec. 10.

In addition, he scored 24 points with 14 rebounds against Felician on Feb. 2 and contributed 20 points with 10 rebounds at Chestnut Hill on Dec. 19.

A two-year starter for Coach Chuck Hammond, Porter has started 50 of 53 games in his career. With 864 career points, he ranks 12th on the Lightning's all-time scoring list and ranks sixth in school history with 355 career rebounds.

Meanwhile, Picard earned honorable mention recognition for the second straight season after averaging 15.6 points per game with a team-high 68 assists. The only Goldey-Beacom player to start all 26 games this season, he made 41.9 per cent of his field goal attempts, including 47 of 138 shots from three-point range. In addition, he ranks ninth in the CACC with an .825 free throw percentage.

Picard scored 10 or more points in 21 of 26 games this season, including 13 of the Lightning's final 14 contests. He also scored 20 or more points in a game six times, including a career-high 38 points against Chestnut Hill on Jan. 15 in the Lightning's 105-99 loss. He made 10 of 21 shots from the floor, including a 5-for-11 effort from three-point range, while adding a 13-for-14 performance from the free throw line.

Honored as the CACC Player of the Week for his career-high effort, Picard finished the game just one point shy of the Goldey-Beacom single-game scoring record. He also matched a season high with eight rebounds against the Griffins along with four assists.

A two-year starter for the Lightning, Picard will enter his senior season as the 11th-leading scorer in school history and will need just 106 points to become the ninth player in school history to score 1,000 career points.
