Porter Recognized by CACC for 2nd Straight Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn.
– Sophomore guard Marcus Porter (Howard H.S./Wilmington, Del.) of the Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball team has been named as an honorable mention selection for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards for the week ending Feb. 10, it has been announced by CACC officials.

Porter, who has received honorable mention recognition in each of the last two weeks, has been an honorable mention selection three times this year. As a freshman last season, he earned CACC Rookie of the Week honors three times.  

In leading the Lightning to an 86-83 overtime victory over Lincoln University on Wednesday, Porter recorded the second 30-point game of his career by scoring a season-high 30 points. Porter, who made 11 of 23 shots from the floor in the victory, also matched his career high by grabbing 14 rebounds as the Lightning earned their second win in the last three games after a seven-game losing streak.

A starter in 19 of 21 games this season, Porter is the Lightning's leading scorer and ranks fifth in the CACC with a 17.0 average. In addition, he ranks ninth in the CACC by averaging 7.4 rebounds per game.

Porter, who has recorded a “double double” in back-to-back games, is also tied for sixth in the CACC with seven “double double” efforts this season.

Led by Porter, the Lightning will travel to Nyack College on Wednesday night for a CACC game against the Warriors at Bowman Gymnasium. Opening tip-off is slated for approximately 7 p.m.
